About this Event
Gift time to disconnect to reconnect; to yourself, nature and others.
Come join us in Oxford city centre for a day of digital detox.
Does your digital world ever feel too much?
Constant connection to technology and the online world can take a significant toll on mental health, leading to increased stress, anxiety, and feelings of being overwhelmed.Ever heard of doom scrolling? It refers to stress caused by technology overload. And how about "digital burnout," signifying exhaustion from constant online activity, and "hyperconnectivity," describing the overwhelming constant connection to digital devices. Other terms like "information overload" highlight the mental fatigue from excessive information consumption, while "FOMO" (Fear of Missing Out) describes anxiety about missing out on social events or news. "Screen addiction" or "internet addiction" also capture online behaviours, and "tech fatigue" refers to the tiredness resulting from prolonged use of digital devices. It often results in reduced face-to-face interactions, impacting social skills and emotional well-being. It can also disrupt sleep patterns and decrease overall attention span, making it harder to focus on tasks and enjoy real-world experiences.
The Gift
So – here is an opportunity to pause, put down our devices, step away from the screens, and engage in real conversations with real people. The session will include mindfulness, creative activities, group discussions, moments to soak in nature and time to reflect.
Skilled facilitators Elizabeth Laskar and Miranda Shaw will help the group co create a space to deepen breath, tune inwards, play with our imagination to reconnect with nature and purpose. Experience the power of being present in the moment.
Skills and activities we will focus on
