About this Event
Each semester, the Honors Program hosts the Disciple Scholar Lecture, a long-standing Honors tradition focused on the intersection of scholarship and faith at BYU. This semester, we are excited to welcome Liz Darger, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for BYU. Her address “Building Bridges and Notable Nudges: Discipleship and Belonging in Athletics," promises to inspire atheletes and non-atheletes alike. The event is open to the broad campus community.
Liz Darger is the senior associate athletic director at BYU where she oversees many men’s and women’s athletic teams and human resources. She serves on the Big 12 Conference SWA Committee, the NCAA Women’s Basketball Committee and the NCAA Common Ground Leadership Team. Outside of athletics Liz serves as a Sorensen Fellow for BYU’s Sorensen Center for Moral & Ethical Leadership, as a Utah Women & Leadership Project Ambassador, and on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Utah County. Liz holds three degrees from BYU, including a doctorate in educational leadership, and wrote her dissertation on “Latter-day Saint Women and Leadership in Higher Education”. Liz served as a member of the Young Women General Advisory Council from 2018-2023 and now enjoys serving as a youth Sunday School teacher in her ward. Liz grew up in Boise, Idaho. She enjoys watching musical theater, cheering on nieces and nephews, and playing pickleball with friends. All of which are even better if she’s doing them at Bear Lake.
