That haunting line, used to describe a nuclear blast, also defines the raw power of Discharge the Stoke-on-Trent punk band that reshaped underground music. Exploding onto the scene in the late ’70s, their debut Realities of War EP delivered a stripped-down, ferocious sound that fueled the rise of hardcore, thrash, and what would become known as D-Beat.
With brutal releases like Fight Back, Decontrol, and the landmark LP Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing, Discharge fused anti-war rage with relentless noise, inspiring legions of bands and birthing a genre in the process. Covered by heavyweights like Metallica, Sepultura, and Anthrax, their influence is undeniable—even if their intensity remains unmatched.
In 2016, they signed to Nuclear Blast Records, releasing End of Days, which hit #10 on the UK Rock Charts. Still ferocious and fiercely relevant, Discharge continue to tear through stages worldwide—louder, angrier, and more vital than ever.
The ungovernable force of anarcho-punk legends Conflict will take to the stage in memory of their iconic frontman, Colin Jerwood, who tragically passed away in May after a brief illness.
