About this Event
Please note that this is a two-part training - all participants need to attend on both August 20th and August 27th.
This two-session workshop (taking place August 20th and 27th from 6pm - 8:30pm each night) is intended for participants who want to support preparedness efforts in the Boulder County community by becoming Community Preparedness Ambassadors who work to teach community peers the essentials of disaster preparedness as part of our Community Preparedness Ambassador steam. There's no need to have any prior knowledge of disaster preparedness - this series will equip participants with all the info they'll need to successfully facilitate the preparedness content to peers by covering emergency alert information, how to conduct a personal risk assessment, creating a plan, and facilitation skills.
This course ends with all participants conducting a facilitation to their peers in the workshop group on one of the topics that we covered during the first day.
Participants should bring a method for notetaking (notebook and writing utensil, laptop, etc.), and will receive an electronic copy of our Disaster Strong Facilitator Guide as well as with access to our Community Preparedness Ambassadors webpage which contains all preparedness content, and ways to connect with your fellow trainers! Food will be provided.
