The Bergen County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs is pleased to announce a two part program: Disaster Response and Recovery: A Hands-On Intensive on September 18th and the 25th. The second part of the program is a hands-on in-person workshop on September 25th at Van Saun County Park. The programs will cover disaster response and salvage recovery techniques for historical and cultural collections. The hands-on program in the second part is a simulated disaster where participants will practice salvage techniques on a variety of materials. Participants who want to attend the hands-on program must attend the webinar.
In a mock disaster simulation, participants will use the incident command system while learning to salvage a variety of materials, including artifacts, paper, photographs, and books. Personal safety, initial site assessment, object triage and tracking, and post-disaster debriefing will also be addressed during the workshop. Limit: 25 participants.
Wednesday, September 25th, 2024 10 am to 1 pm Van Saun County Park, Paramus. Directions to the workshop location will be sent to attendees prior to the 25th.
