About this Event

Galway City Council in collaboration with, Access for All Galway City, Fáilte Ireland, Galway City Partnership and the Disability Federation of Ireland, is pleased to announce the launch of a new Disability Awareness Training program for businesses operating within the city's night-time economy.

Funded by Galway City Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, this free workshop is designed to equip businesses with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently interact with, and accommodate customers with disabilities.

This initiative is part of the Galway City Council Night-Time Economy Action Plan 2024-2025. The plan aims to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for people with disabilities, ensuring everyone can enjoy Galway's vibrant nightlife. This training is the first in a series aimed at enhancing accessibility and inclusivity in the night-time economy.

The training program is available to all businesses operating within Galway's City's night-time economy, including pubs, restaurants, nightclubs, theatres, and cultural venues.

About Galway City’s Night-Time Economy

Galway City is one of nine pilot cities and towns in Ireland actively working to shape the country's night-time economy. The focused development of the Night-Time Economy in Ireland originated from a post-COVID-19 response to support the sectors badly affected by the pandemic. Following on from a commitment under the Programme for Government, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media established a multi-agency task force to examine the challenges facing the development of a vibrant night-time culture and economy.
