DIRTY WORK: Workshops & Skillshares Ever wanted to discuss and learn everything from organizing to queer faith or kink and more? Look no further? Save the date for Dirty Work - Workshops & Skillshares, happening on Saturday, June 25th & Sunday, June 26th indoors at Eyedrum Gallery (515 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30312) as a part of the Southern Fried Queer Pride 2022 Festival.
Line-Up of Workshops:
SATURDAY, JUNE 25TH
1PM-2:30PM HOUSE YOGA & TEA: A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO ALIGNMENT
DETAILS: Beginner's yoga workshop to learn how to practice a sun salutation sequence that can energize and rejuvenate the body.
2:45PM- 4:15PM ORGANIZING & UNIONIZING 101
DETAILS: This is an interactive workshop for working people who are interested in campaign or union organizing. Come learn the background of TLGBQIA2S histories of organizing, gain some solid definitions for organizing ( i.e. organizing, strategy, tactics, power analysis etc.) and then use a union organizing drive as an example for how to organize a group around a very clear demand.
4:30PM-6PM SOUND HEALING
DETAILS: Join us as we envelop you in a relaxing soundbath of textures. Our intentions are to join you in making more room for you in your life. We invite you to join us in steady rhythms, introspection, and collective attunement.

SUNDAY, JUNE 26TH
1PM-2PM QUEER FAITH: EXPLORING/SHARING FAITH STORIES & SPIRITUAL PRACTICES
DETAILS: During this workshop, participants will be invited to explore the idea of writing as a form of nonviolent resistance against oppressive religious institutions (specifically in this case, Christian supremacy). As a community of learners and folks healing from what Teresa Pasquale calls Sacred Wounds, we will practice writing our truths and sharing them with one another. This will not be a group therapy session, rather a time to share our stories and learn from the stories of others as we uplift one another and pushback against the Christian supremacist narrative that (attempts to strip) strips LGBTQIA+ individuals of their divinity and explore ways to resist oppression from any religious institution that would seek to do the same! Resources for therapy & further learning will be provided.
2:15PM-3:30PM WE GOT US! HOW TO HANDLE MENTAL HEALTH WHEN THERAPY ISN'T AN OPTION (*BIPOC ONLY)
DETAILS: The COVID-19 pandemic has made it tremendously clear that mental health is important. But for many Black, Latinx, and Indigenous LGBTQIA folks, services like therapy and crisis intervention can be unaffordable, ineffective, or downright dangerous. This workshop will teach you how to utilize your community and social circle to help you maintain your mental health without burning themselves out until you are able to see a competent therapist.
3:45PM- 4:30PM BALD-HEADED HEAUX SHIT (*BIPOC ONLY)
DETAILS: I ain’t gonna hold you, come if you just wanna shake your a$$ in a supportive space. This is an open level twerk and stretch class for those who need a genderqueer space for movement and exploring jiggle. A launch point for this class is Gulf-Coast/Deep South style twerk (YOU KNO THAT MEANS BOUNCE), and the class is facilitated to also include whine, gentle yoga-based stretching, and consent.
4:45PM-5:345PM POC QUEER AND KINKY (*BIPOC ONLY)
DETAILS: This workshop is about exploring kink as a queer POC - how it looks different from our white hetero counterparts, how to explore kink in a safe and healthy way, understanding what kink is outside of what’s portrayed in society and media, and how kink can be a place of growth and healing.
