NL Vanaf Plato’s grotallegorie tot de nadruk van de Verlichting op empirische kennis: het zicht wordt in de Westerse samenleving nog steeds gezien als dé toegangspoort tot de waarheid. In het spoor van onder meer de Yoruba-kosmologie, de Andesvolkeren en geluidskundige Pauline Oliveros, stelt Juan Dominguez ons geluid en tast voor als alternatieven om de wereld zoals we die kennen te ontwrichten. In een tentoonstelling, geluidsinstallatie en kleilaboratium, gebruikt hij klei om ons terug aan elkaar en onze niet-menselijke omgeving te verbinden.

De l'allégorie de la caverne de Platon à l'accent mis par les Lumières sur la connaissance empirique, la vue est, tout du moins dans la société occidentale, toujours considérée comme la porte d'accès à la vérité. Se plaçant dans la lignée de la cosmologie yoruba, des peuples andins et de l'acousticienne Pauline Oliveros notamment, Juan Dominguez nous présente le son et le toucher comme des alternatives pour perturber le monde tel que nous le connaissons. À travers une exposition, une installation sonore et un laboratoire d'argile, il utilise l'argile pour nous relier les un⸱es aux autres et à notre environnement non humain.

From Plato’s allegory of the cave to the Enlightenment’s emphasis on empirical knowledge, sightis still seen as the gateway to truth in Western society. Following in the footsteps of Yoruba cosmology, Andean concepts, and the work of sound scientist Pauline Oliveros, Juan Dominguez presents us with sound and touch as alternative ways to disrupt the world as we know it. In an exhibition, sound installation, and clay laboratory, he uses clay to reconnect us with each other and with our non-human environment.
