In celebration of Easter, Biedenharn Museum and Gardens Executive Director Ralph Calhoun will lead special Director’s Tours of the Bible Museum, highlighting significant treasures in the Biedenharn Bible Collection. Calhoun describes the collection as an outstanding treasure for Northeast Louisiana, noting that while it may not match the size of larger institutions, it holds critical documents defining the history of the Bible in print. Highlights include a page from the Gutenberg Bible, a 1611 King James Bible, and pages from the first two Bibles printed in the future United States. Calhoun will share insights into the history, craftsmanship, and influence of these works. The tour will place special emphasis on Gib Singleton’s Fourteen Stations of the Cross—a powerful series of bronze sculptures tracing Christ’s journey from trial to tomb.
In addition, guests will view select works from the Biedenharn Permanent Collection, as well as artwork by local artists Pam Holloman and Dustin Greer.
