Volunteering for dinner service at PATH's Connections Housing
About this Event

Join PATH San Diego and Urban Angels to help serve healthy and delicious meals to our 134 residents. By providing a meal to someone in need, you are making a difference in the community and the lives of others. We prepare dinner every night of the week and need your help to serve it. Please note we have changed our meal service guidelines to adhere to all safety procedures and keep our residents, staff and volunteers safe. We are following a mandatory indoor masking policy so please bring a mask.

Key Responsibilities:-The shifts are from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and you will help chef and a few other volunteers prep and plate food for dinner, breakfast and lunch. Dinner gets picked up by a staff member and brought upstairs to the resident floors and breakfast and lunch get rolled into the fridge for staff to pick up the following morning and afternoon.

For questions or concerns, please contact Sigrid Struben at [email protected] or 619-810-8606.

FAQs

Recent Covid Safety Updates:

To protect to the extent reasonably possible, the health and safety of our employees, fellow volunteers and clients from the direct threat resulting from the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace and to members of the public, we now require all PATH volunteers to get vaccinated against COVID-19. PATH must maintain the confidentiality of vaccination status as provided by law. Vaccination records will be used for viewing purposes only upon entry and will not be scanned or stored in any digital or hard copy location by PATH staff. Please contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to volunteer?

Anyone under the age of 16 must have a parental guardian or chaperone. Ages 16-18 may volunteer on their own with a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

Do you accept walk-in volunteers?

All volunteers must be scheduled in advance via EventBrite. Due to health and safety regulations, there are no exceptions to this rule.

What should I wear?

PATH recommends casual and comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. In addition, please be mindful of the level of appropriateness of your dress.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? How do I enter the building?

PATH Connections Housing is located at 1250 Sixth Ave, on the corner of Sixth Ave and A Street. Please enter the building at the A Street entrance. There is metered parking on the surrounding streets for $1.25/hour, as well as pay lots on the surrounding blocks, such as Ace Parking. Carpooling is highly suggested. We are also only 1.5 blocks from the C Street trolley exit.

Can I get my hours verified for school or work?

Yes, PATH can provide a volunteer service letter to verify your hours for school or work purposes. PATH does not accept court ordered volunteers and cannot provide verification of hours served.
