What began as a chance encounter in the Nashville Airport has blossomed into a moving friendship and inspirational documentary. A Song Can Change a Life follows the real-life journey of Joe West who grew up in Fayetteville, AR as the son of America’s first Black Country Western duo, Sarge & Shirley West. Singer/songwriter Joe West shares a deeply personal story of family, music, and reconciliation. After years of estrangement from his father, Joe wrote a song called “Daddy”—a heartfelt anthem of forgiveness. When he performed it for his family on a visit back to Arkansas, the moment sparked a long-overdue embrace and emotional healing between father and son.
That story became the catalyst for a 12-day filmmaking journey through Arkansas, Tennessee, and Georgia.
The evenings event will include:
Live concert by Joe West includes dinner followed by an intimate acoustic singer songwriter concert and special documentary outtakes. (Only 44 seats are available at Friday’s event.).
