Over the years many members and friends of NUCC have enjoyed watching a film and sharing dinner together. The tradition will continue!
Join us in Beverly Hall at Naples United Church of Christ on Thursday, July 22 at 3:30 p.m. for The Green Book, winner of three 2018 Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Original Screen Play. Inspired by a true story, Green Book is a comedy-drama about the relationship between two real-life people: Dr. Donald Shirley and Tony “Lip” Vallelonga. Shirley was born in 1927 and grew up in a well-off Black family in Florida, where he emerged as a classical piano prodigy. Tony is a bouncer at a club in a working-class neighborhood. In 1962, Shirley recruits Tony Lip to drive him through the Deep South for a concert tour.
Dinner will follow at 6 p.m. at Bricktops restaurant. There is no need to make a reservation for the movie, but dinner reservations are required. Email [email protected] or call the church office by Friday, July 16 to make your reservations.
