Let's get into the Halloween spirit with the free screening of Casper (1995, PG) at sunset at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, with dinner beforehand nearby at ChopNFresh. RSVP here on Facebook and/or at meetup.com/birmingham-vegans/events/311279526Feel free to join for whichever part(s) of the evening you can. Here's the plan:
4:00 p.m. Meet for an early dinner at ChopNFresh
5:30 p.m. Walk (or drive) across the street to the Botanical Gardens
6:30 p.m. (or right at sunset) the film Casper starts playing outside
ChopNFresh started in Huntsville and opened down here a couple years ago. You go through the line and customize your salad with a wide range of options, including warm quinoa and warm wild rice. They have baked falafel, Impossible Burger, roasted tofu, and housemade hummus. Vegan dressings include Balsamic Vinaigrette, Lime Cilantro Jalapeño, Miso Sesame Ginger, and Pesto Vinaigrette. Oh, and they have local kombucha on draft and in bottles. As always, please remember to order vegan at the meetup.
This is the 30th anniversary of the film Casper, featuring the friendly ghost who haunts a mansion in Maine. It is 100 minutes long and rated PG. Gates open at 5:00, and we plan to head over around 5:30. The film will start playing at sunset, around 6:30. This will give us time to settle into a good spot and chat. The Gardens are doing a costume contest, so wear one if you'd like. Bring a blanket or low-profile lawn chair. The event is free, but a $5 donation is encouraged, to support a summer intern program at the Gardens. More information here: bbgardens.org/event/flicks-among-the-flowers/
We look forward to seeing you!
