Dinner 2050: The Future of Food in Ireland is a collaboration between Wicklow Chef and food Historian Tadgh Byrne and Dublin Filmmaker, Max Barry.
The film explores how Ireland will eat in 2050 - looking at how technology will change farming, food security, robot chefs, drone deliveries and sustainability in the food supply chain.
Panelists will include Chef JP McMahon, Dairy Farmer and IFA leader Brendan Hickey, Farmer Suzanne Crampton from Farming for Nature, and local horticulturalist Shane Hatton, Bosco’s Garden.
Chef JP McMahon: JP McMahon is a celebrated chef, restaurateur, and author, best known as the owner and culinary director of the Michelin-starred Aniar Restaurant and the award-winning Cava Bodega. JP’s commitment to educational and ethical food practices, local and free-range produce, and direct engagement with farmers and producers sets him apart in the culinary world.
Brendan Hickey is a dairy and beef farmer from Urlingford, Co Kilkenny. He works alongside his daughter on the family farm. He is a member of IFA for over 30 years and has held a number of positions in the organisation. He is currently the county chairperson of Kilkenny IFA. He is a strong believer in protecting the family farm model that has served Irish agriculture well over the years.
Suzanne Crampton is an Irish farmer in County Kilkenny, known for her commitment to sustainable and regenerative agriculture. She and her husband run a mixed farm with beef cattle, sheep, and forestry, focusing on soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare. As an advocate for nature-friendly farming, Suzanne is involved with Farming for Nature, where she is celebrated as an ambassador for environmental stewardship.
Shane Hatton is the creator of Bosco Garden, an award-winning garden located in Kilkenny, Ireland. Passionate about horticulture, Shane has developed Bosco Garden into a celebrated space known for its innovative design and diverse plant collections. The garden has gained recognition for its unique blend of traditional and contemporary elements, showcasing Shane's creativity and dedication to gardening.
MC Santina Kennedy: MA Gastronomy and Food Studies; H Dip. Food Science; Food and Beverage Specialist. Santina is an experienced food and drink consultant and event organiser who has been working with Powerscourt Distillery, Co Wicklow for the past 5 years. Santina has a personal rewilding project of her own in Co. Leitrim!
Tadgh Byrne is a chef, presenter and writer from County Wicklow, Ireland. He owns Críoch - an event and contract catering company, holds an MA in Gastronomy and Food Studies and is a board member of Wicklow Naturally and Eurotoques Ireland.
