We are feel so lucky for the opportunity to host this EXTREMELY on-brand presentation! It was created, and is presented by, the owner of a shop very much like Awakening in Germany, and has been shown all over Europe.
"During this one hour multimedial presentation we will discuss the world's first sex shop, opened in Germany inthe late 60s. We take a closer look at the political fights and topics that lead to the founding of the first feminist sexshops in the US, and the impact they have had on queer and feminist culture.
How can selling dildos and toys be feminist? What is differentabout those stores? And how can we change the business of pleasure?"
About the presenter:
Zarah ist the co founder of the F*ck Yeah Sex Shop Sollective based in Hamburg, Germany. They have a local store, onlineshop and give workshops since 2018. Zarah has a masters of cultural science and is a trained professional sexual educator. This lecture has been held at various universities and museums all over Europe.
