About this Event
Digitising the Planet with Innovation and Connectivity - Allan Cannon, R3-IoT Co-Founder & CEO

Startup Grind Glasgow is back in business! We're excited to bring our community back together at the new Barclays Campus this month and pick up right where we left off with more inspirational fireside conversations with local founders, more opportunities to meet friends old and new, and more support to take your first steps into the startup grind.

We couldn't have found a better speaker for our re-entry into the fold: Allan Cannon, Co-Founder and CEO of R3-IoT, one of Scotland's most highly anticipated and exciting tech startups!

The world is more connected now than ever before. Fibre cables line our pavements, bringing the sum of human knowledge to the tips of our fingers. If we have learned anything in the past two years, it's that we can work from anywhere, anytime - and the way we work will only become more remote in the future.

But what about places that fibre cables haven't been laid or satellites don't yet reach? Who's thinking about the astronauts on the International Space Station and how they can scroll through TikTok before bed, too?

Enter R3-IoT. After 15 years in the space industry, working on projects alongside NASA, Allan and Co-Founder and CTO Kevin Quillien saw an opportunity to connect the world - from the fish farms in the Scottish Highlands to digital health monitoring. All of which will help service the 90% of the planet that lacks traditional communications infrastructure.

As we explore what it takes to digitise the planet with Allan, we'll dive into R3-IoT's story concerning:

  • Opportunities for Scottish companies to commercialise on the space race alongside SpaceX, Amazon and OneWeb
  • Raising investment in the US and building an international advisory team
  • Accelerators in Scotland and the US
  • Prioritising mental health in the startup journey
  • Scale up a team whilst developing and raising money
  • Finding your product-market fit
  • The future of connectivity

Join us on June 29th as we tell the R3-IoT story with Allan Cannon!
