Want to build confidence with your digital camera and learn to use manual mode? This course will take place in a classroom setting where we will cover the very basic fundamentals of photography over the course of three evenings to give you a solid foundation in which to grow. In addition to camera settings, you will learn all of the elements of exposure so that you can learn to intuitively adjust your camera for each situation. We will explore how to compose better photos, planning, filters, shooting in RAW and photo editing in Adobe Lightroom. Each session will cover a different aspect of exposure with some helpful camera settings and concepts. While this class will be primarily focused around using only natural light and landscapes (my area of expertise), the foundation you acquire can be translated to any type of photography.Required materials: A camera capable of “manual” mode such as a dSLR or Mirrorless camera.
Recommended but optional: A laptop with Adobe Lightroom Classic software. Photoshop can be used but isn’t necessary. Adobe offers a subscription plan for $9.99 a month that includes both Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. Do not bother with the $19.99 plan with 1TB of cloud storage. This is Adobe trying to upsell their “Lightroom Cloud” version, which is a less capable version of Lightroom Classic.
Tuition cost: $80 due in full to reserve a spot. This covers all 3 days of class. Camera and other equipment is not provided. Class size is limited, ages 16+, and will only take place with a minimum of 4 people. Refunds will be issued if we have to cancel. Refunds can be issued for any reason until Feb. 4th, 2025. Otherwise, the fee can be used toward a future class or workshop. Message me for payment options.
