The rise of AI co-pilots has brought to the forefront the significant challenges organizations face today with sensitive data sprawl and over provisioned and unintended access. While enterprise co-pilots promise to protect information from being disclosed outside the respective organization, and also respect end-users existing permissions, the-age old problem of excessive over provisioning of end user access presents a major obstacle for enterprise co-pilot adoption. Microsoft’s own data shows that over 95% of permissions go unused - hardly “least privileged.” And while this problem has been a painful nuisance and growing security threat, the adoption of AI copilot has quickly exacerbated this issue.
