Have you always wanted to read other peoples’ diaries? Join the South Carolina Historical Society in the historic Fireproof Building for an exclusive exhibit of some of the most interesting diaries and journals found in our collections. Selections include the original letter book (1739-1762) of Eliza Lucas Pinckney, the travel journal (1850-1855) of Louis Manigault chronicling his adventures in China and California during the gold rush, artist and naturalist John Henry Dick's twentieth century guest books featuring his watercolor paintings, vivid descriptions of the Battle of Sullivan’s Island found in the 4th South Carolina Regiment order book (1775-1778), and more! Libations and light hors d’oeuvres will be offered. This is a ticketed, drop-in style event.
