Diane's Deli: A Tale from Paradise Heights'Stephen King meets Jimmy McGovern'
From the award winning writer/director of The Haunting of Blaine Manor.
Tales from Paradise Heights are Joe O'Byrne's critically acclaimed and audience loved series of inter-connected neo noir tales. Described as 'theatre noir' tales full of memorable characters good and bad, and shot through with O'Byrne's unique salty dialogue and twisted humour, gripping plots and that supernatural meets gritty drama in a community haunted by ghosts and angels, gangsters and femme fatales all set in a haunted northern town. The first to come to Darwen Library Theatre is Diane's Deli: A Tale from Paradise Heights, playing Darwen Library Theatre on Sunday 22nd February.
Sean Ginty is a cafe owner in Paradise Heights. A quiet and unassuming man who wears a watch that stopped over twenty five years ago.
He's a father figure to both his staff; literary student Jake, and Gabrielle, an artist and scarred survivor of a horrific fire that left her orphaned some years ago. It's a quiet but somewhat idyllic existence. DS Mackey, from the local police, is a burnt out and bitter man with an eye for opportunity and the other eye on Sean; he is more than curious about his past. More disturbingly, is something haunting the café, and just who is the Angel of The Heights?
When a woman turns up in the cafe late one night, a chain of events is set in motion that will have devastating effects on all their lives.
Reviews:
'Diane's Deli plunges us deeper...There’s dark humour, bursts of romance, secrets bubbling beneath the surface, and an undercurrent of violence that keeps you on edge throughout. It’s gritty, gripping, and utterly compelling. All human life is here, no filter, no safety net. Loved it.' Mysterious Times
