About this Event
An icon is a religious or sacred image that is created through both prayer and skilled craftsmanship. The tradition of iconography has been handed down through the centuries from master iconographers to apprentices through a process of fasting, prayer, and years of learning the skills necessary to create these sacred images. To gaze at an icon is to behold a beauty that is beyond words.
In this weeklong workshop, participants will learn about and complete an icon of the holy “Prophet Elijah” in acrylic paint on a prepared wood panel. Diane will gently lead students through a step-by-step process using demonstration and instruction. All supplies will be provided and are included in the cost of the workshop, including paint, brushes, board, and other materials. Please wear comfortable clothing. No previous experience is necessary; both beginners and experienced participants are welcome.
