Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date, her albums have earned two Grammy® Awards, ten Juno® Awards, and multiple gold, platinum, and multi-platinum certifications. Known for her cool yet sultry voice and rhythmic sophistication, Krall has become one of the most recognizable artists of our time. Born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, she began playing piano at four and was performing jazz locally by fifteen. With encouragement from her father—a stride pianist and jazz enthusiast—Krall devoted herself fully to music, later earning a scholarship to Berklee College of Music. After studying in Boston, she moved to Los Angeles, where she met several jazz greats who would shape her career, including bassist Ray Brown, who became her mentor. Her debut album Stepping Out arrived in 1993, followed by Only Trust Your Heart, which began her long creative partnership with producer Tommy LiPuma.
Krall’s career soared with When I Look in Your Eyes (1999), which spent 52 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Jazz chart, won two Grammy Awards, and went platinum in the U.S. and Canada. Her next release, The Look of Love, brought even greater international acclaim, while later albums such as Turn Up the Quiet and Love Is Here to Stay—a collaboration with Tony Bennett—cemented her reputation for elegant, expressive interpretations of jazz standards. Her 2020 album This Dream of You served as a heartfelt tribute to LiPuma, blending artistry and emotion in a collection celebrated by critics and fans alike. Beyond her solo work, Krall has contributed to numerous film soundtracks and collaborated with artists including Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, and Tony Bennett. She continues to tour the world, captivating sold-out audiences at premier jazz festivals and concert halls across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
