Workshop: Heavy Metal Belly Dance 101
Welcome to the art of dark belly dance. Open your mind and free your metal soul! Add another dimension of movement to your dancing and reveal your new capabilities as you explore the world metal belly dance. This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners or those new to metal belly dance style as well as more seasoned dancers. We will review basic moves and positions while dancing to heavy metal music. Diana will show us how she fuses femininity with fierceness and helps us uncover our inner beast in this jam packed 2-hour workshop.
Weekend workshops are suitable for Continuing Beginners to Intermediate/Advanced dancers. Diana will provide instruction for all levels. Please indicate your dance experience with registration.

Workshop 1: Metalicious Combos
An active and intense metal belly dance workshop featuring a good warm-up and lots of combos. We take a deep dive into the core moves and combinations which are at the heart of this fusion form of belly dance. Diana teaches us how to embody power and grace, sexuality and strength, passion and confidence, fire and darkness through metal music and epic belly dance moves. Let’s get our dance on and evolve our level of expression through movement!
Workshop 2: Flaming Bellies
A workshop all about shimmies and belly rolls. We will learn & perfect various shimmies as well as learn how to layer different moves on top of them. We’ll also learn how to move our bellies with various rolls and flutters. This workshop will focus on how to control and use our abdominal muscles and how to breathe properly while doing it. All while listening to a stellar metal soundtrack curated by Diana Bastet herself!

Workshop 1: Burning Hearts & Hips
Part 1: Is all about the heart – above the heart, near the heart, under and behind the heart! Learn how to perfect your chest movements and isolations. Diana will share her own tips and tricks from her years of experience on how to improve your upper body dance technique.
Part 2: Is all about the hips – your hips have killer magic and power to be explored! Learn how to make your hip movements more strong, powerful, and confident. Hot hip work combos to bring your hips to the next level and create more expression with them.
Workshop 2: Heavy Metal Choreography
Learn a heavy metal belly dance choreography from the Queen of Metal Belly Dance Diana Bastet!
