Huw V Williams is one of the most exciting bass players on the UK scene, performing with world class musicians including Jim Black, Huw Warren, Jeff Williams, Laura Jurd and Ivo Neame. Away from the world of jazz and improvised music he also plays with Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) and Kliph Scurlock (formerly of the Flaming Lips). Previously at The Lescar with his own band HON (which featured Laura Jurd and Elliot Galvin) as well as recording with George Crowley and NYC drummer Devin Gray. This line-up is a return to Williams’ rock roots, exploring the sonic possibilities of a 2 guitar line-up from the view of a jazz improvisor/composer.
Guitarist Mike De Souza has toured internationally including performances at the Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg), Jazzwerkstatt (Graz) and Radar Festival (Varna), and many of the UK’s leading jazz venues, including Ronnie Scott’s and the Vortex Jazz Club. He has performed with Byron Wallen, Phil Meadows and as part of the group Big Bad Wolf, ranked 3rd in Jazzwise Magazine’s Top 10 Albums of the Year and receiving widespread critical acclaim, and has played and recorded as a bandleader, most recently with a quintet and 2025 EP Schism.
Another wonderful guitarist Billy Marrows leads the Billy Marrows Band and beautiful chamber-jazz project Grande Família, who many of you may have seen at their Sheffield performance last year. He performs with a wide range of other projects, including Docklands Sinfonia, Tom Ridout Quintet, Chelsea Carmichael and Patchwork Jazz Orchestra, with his debut album Penelope shortlisted in the 2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. An award-winning arranger, his arrangements and compositions have been performed by the Patchwork Jazz Orchestra, Hohnen Ford, Berlin-based Fabia Mantwill Orchestra, and Seville-based vocalist Lovis G, as well as the Metropole Orkest and Becca Stevens.
Another award-winner, Jay Davis (drums) has performed with artists including Yazz Ahmed, Nikki iles, Alex Hitchcock, Rob luft, Laura Jurd, Elliot Galvin, Stan Sulzmann, Mark Lockheart, John Parricelli and Emma Rawicz, and as co-leader in Big Bad Wolf, as well as venues across the UK, Europe and Asia at venues including Umbria jazz festival, Leipzig Jazztage, London Jazz festival, Jimmy glass (Valencia), Jamboree (Barcelona), Jazzwerkstatt (Graz), Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Ronnie Scott's (London), and The Roundhouse (London).
