Our second annual DHTRR Chihuahuan Desert Road Trip (DHTRR Chihuahua Run) will be Thursday 2/27/25 to Sunday 3/2/25. We’ll be staying at the Desert Air Motel in Sanderson, TX the night of 2/27/25. Our first meet up will be that evening for supper between 5:00PM - 7:00PM in Sanderson at the Ranch House Restaurant. We’ll continue our evening staring at the stars and hanging out with our fellow road trippers at the Desert Air Motel outdoor area and fire pit. We’ll then meet up for coffee and breakfast Friday morning in Sanderson at Ferguson Motors between 8:00AM-9:00AM. We’llhave our mandatory driver meeting and split up into smaller driving groups before cruising to Marfa for lunch at 9:30AM. We’ll head north to Fort Davis and then take the scenic drive to the Mc Donald Observatory after lunch. We’ll head to Alpine to check into our hotels and meet up for supper later that evening. We’ll meet up in Alpine Saturday morning at 9:30AM after breakfast and before cruising to Terlingua for lunch. We’ll then head west on River Road FM 170 to Presidio, and we’ll then head back north to Alpine Saturday afternoon to hangout at the hotels before meeting for supper in Alpine. We’ll end the weekend with our final meetup for breakfast together Sunday morning in Alpine before everyone heads their separate ways. No donations or registration fees to participate. Hotel/rental options are available in Sanderson, Marathon and Alpine. The vintage and recently renovated Desert Air Motel in Sanderson would be the best option for a hotel on Thursday evening. Alpine or Marathon would be the best options for a hotel/rental for Friday and Saturday evenings. Hotels/rentals book fast near Big Bend. Don’t wait!!
