Dharma talk and Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation

Just Sit Raleigh Dharma is a Theravda based Buddhist Meditation Society also known as a Sangha based in the NC Raleigh-Durham Triangle. We currently meet Monthly for a Dharma talk and guided meditation as well as weekly outdoor silent meditation.

In April the topic will be the five precepts which inlcude non killing, non stealing, not using your sexual energy to cause harm, not using harsh or false speech and not using mind altering substances which can cause heedlessness.

In May will be the awakening factors. June will be about mindfulness and collectedness in our meditation practice and July is the BrahmaViharas of Loving kindness, Compassion, Appreciation and Equanimity.

My intention is to offer these teachings in an easy to understand way, connecting the Buddha's teachings to our daily lives with practical suggestions for putting the teachings into action in one’s life and heart. With study and practice we can begin to embody this wisdom. The talk is usually about an hour and after a short break we do a 30 minute guided meditation. Time for questions at the end of the talk and the meditation is always available. This talk is suitable for beginners and seasoned practioners alike of all ages. All are welcome, class always by donation called dana in Pali, the ancient language of the teachings.
