Course Summary: As the name suggests, the Dhamma Foundation Course (DFC) has been designed to give our participants a foundational understanding of key Dhamma concepts so that they are clear about what the Buddha had taught and how that teaching can be applied in daily life.

The full course is taught in two modules:

a) DFC 1 is for the basic seeker who wants to know what it means to be a Buddhist and how to find joy and fulfilment in his faith. By the end of this module, he will know how to conduct himself as a Buddhist, how to navigate his life in accordance with the Dhamma and have the confidence to explain Dhamma to another in simple terms. This module has thus been termed ‘Dhamma for the Fulfilling Lay Life’.

b) DFC 2 is scheduled to commence after Vesak 2024. It is termed the ‘The Practitioner’s Dhamma’. It is for the serious seeker in search of Dhamma insights and practices that will bring him closer to spiritual awakening. The module will help him connect dots between key Dhamma concepts so that he has clarity on what he must do and how to do it to create the necessary mental conditions for enlightenment. This module will include a series of guided meditation classes and concludes with a 2-day weekend retreat.

Course Design: We will use only materials from the Pali Canon, which is the oldest surviving collection of teachings that could be traced to the Buddha. Lessons have been carefully designed to enable effective adult learning. Apart from lectures and reading materials, there will also be active group discussions, thoughtful personal reflections, fun quizzes and more to maximise the learning experience.

For Whom: Anyone who is curious and intrigued about Buddhism - from the neophyte to the experienced and avid readers. All are welcome to join fellow Dhamma seekers in a joyous learning adventure.
