DH4 #1587 – Dayton Fireworks Hash (Run/walk)Date: Wednesday, July 3, 2024
Time: 4 pm
Location: Casa Dah Gimp, 140 Jones Street, Dayton OH 45410.
Street only parking. Should be plenty of spots close to the house. Meet on Gimp's backyard patio.
Cost: $8 (cost of beverages at fireworks stop and food). Free for first time hashers!
Bring beer to share on the patio and extra money for bar stops on trail.
Hare: Beamer
Hash Trail: Urban trail in downtown Dayton, approximately 2.5 miles. Before the start of trail, we'll first eat hot dogs and chips provided by Gimp and indulge in each other's beer on the patio. Feel free to bring other food to share. At 9:20 we'll start trail. The first beer/water stop is on top of a parking garage with a good view of the fireworks, which starts at ~10 pm. Following the fireworks, trail continues with a few bar/brewery stops along the way until we return back to Gimp's house.
Hashing in General: This is a fun run or hike where you will follow a trail of flour not knowing exactly where it will lead. One or more beer/water stops along the way! In hashing you'll will be running/walking as part of a group. The faster runners will be out ahead looking for flour marks on the ground trying to figure out which way the trail route goes. Sometimes they go the wrong way which allows the slow runners/walkers to catch up and even get ahead. This allows everyone to go at their own pace and stay together as a group.
Dogs: Allowed on a leash during trail. Must be friendly to people and other dogs. Allowed at Gimp's backyard, but probably not at some of the bars we'll stop by on the way back to Gimp's.
Children: Adults only for first time hashers, since many of us do drink beer. 😋
