10:00am-10:30am - open networking: meet local area first responder peer support groups and clinicians
10:30am-11:30am Presentation by Chief Jason Corthell
Chief Corthell will be presenting on understanding and establishing connections between clinicians and fire departments through a three tiered mental wellness system which his department flag shipped. His presentation will cover establishing and fortifying connections, cultural competency, and trust between mental health professionals and local fire departments, as well as relevant aspects of his personal mental health journey.
Chief Jason Corthell is a fourth-generation firefighter, Marine Corps Veteran, and has been a Fire Service Officer for over ten years. He is a Certified ICISF Individual and Group Crisis Intervention Specialist, a Certified in both IAFF Resiliency and Peer Support, and is certified as a chaplain by IFOC. He currently serves as the Division Chief of Training and the Mental Wellness and Fitness Director for his organization.
