Presenters Laurie Kaler, Program Director for the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services and Shelia Dease-Dinkins, Region 12 Director of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services will share their experience and knowledge of the policies and procedures commonly brought up in court that attorneys should know.

Laurie Kaler, Program Director

Georgia Division of Family and Children Services


Laurie Kaler is the Program Director for the Chatham County office of the Division of Family and Children Services. Laurie has a Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of North Texas. Laurie began her career as a foster care case manager in Texas starting in 2007. After that, she moved to intake and investigations. Laurie has moved up in leadership, taking on greater responsibility. She has worked in foster care, Child Protective Services, and After Hours. Laurie is considers herself to be “pro-family” in that she wants to get children home to their parents if at all possible, but if not then she wants to see them in a permanent, safe, and healthy environment with either relatives or with foster parents who are willing/wanting to adopt.
