About this Event
It’s impossible to not have any ideas. In this workshop you’ll be given prompts to unlock your creativity. Through discussions and sharing you'll discover that ideas are indeed everywhere and find proof that no first draft is ever very good. But that’s exactly how it should be! You will explore how to embrace the idea of creative development from the very beginning. Multiple drafts doesn’t make a bad writer. It makes you a smart one.
Based on material from instructor Mike Czuba’s book, No Shortcuts – The Five Chambers, you’ll be given a set of practical guides to help you discover and refine your own creative process. Mike is an author, playwright, and screenwriter who also has over a decade of teaching at the university level. He additionally has multiple decades of making art while helping other artists make theirs.
This event is sponsored by the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers. CSIF was founded in 1978 by a collective of twelve filmmakers who saw the growing need for film resources and film equipment on the traditional Treaty 7 territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Iyarhe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), also known as Calgary, Alberta. Now over 40 years later we are an integral part of the growing cultural community in Calgary and are excited about new collaborations and opportunities.
