Sysnopsis:

Many people experience burnout either in their jobs or in caring for others. Contemporary neuroscience has shown that this is not only due to the challenges we face, but also to our psychological attitudes. This workshop will explore how compassion practices can be used to help others without becoming overwhelmed or suffer from burnout.


Who should attend: Anyone wishing to help themselves or others to avoid burnout.

Trainers

Prof Ronald D. Siegel is a clinical psychologist who has taught at Harvard Medical School for over 40 years. He teaches internationally about the application of mindfulness practice in psychotherapy and mind-body treatment, serves on the Board of Directors and faculty of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy, and has authored many books including Mindfulness and Psychotherapy, The Mindfulness Solution: Everyday Practices for Everyday Problems, and The Extraordinary Gift of Being Ordinary: Finding Happiness Right Where You Are.

A/Prof Angie Chew is the Founder and CEO of Brahm Centre, a leading mental health charity with a team of over 70 staff, dedicated to fostering happier and healthier living. In recognition of her impactful work in mental health advocacy, she was honored as The Straits Times Singaporean of the Year 2019.

As the first certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher in Singapore, conferred by the Mindfulness Center at Brown University School of Public Health, A/Prof Chew is a pioneer in bringing mindfulness practices to the region. She is also a trained Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teacher through the Oxford Mindfulness Centre.
At the National University of Singapore, she teaches "The Undefeated Mind" course, furthering her commitment to educating the next generation on resilience and mental well-being. A/Prof Chew has led mindfulness courses, workshops, and retreats for more than 15,000 people across various age groups, including many corporate clients, making her a key figure in promoting mental wellness through mindfulness.

$12 for seniors eligible for National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy.


National Silver Academy

  • NSA subsidy is for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents turning 50 and above in 2026.

SkillsFuture Credit

  • In addition to NSA subsidy, course fee may be offset by SkillsFuture Credit (SFC).
  • All tickets purchased with the intent to use SkillsFuture Credit to offset the course fee will be subject to a non-refundable $20 administrative fee.

HOW? Do I begin the process of using my SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) to pay for course fees:


Step 1 (on Skillsfuture Website): Check your SkillsFuture credit balance.

Log into your SkillsFuture Portal to confirm you have sufficient SkillsFuture Credit balance (Take note: $4K SkillsFuture Career Transition Credits CANNOT be used for Brahm Centre courses).

Step 2 (on Eventbrite Website): Securing your ticket.

On Eventbrite, search for the course you are interested in.

Step 3 (on Eventbrite Website): Select correct ticket type & complete registration.

Select the intended Ticket Type (either NSA+SkillsFuture or Individual+SkillsFuture) and complete your registration. Upon successful registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing information about the course.

Save/Screenshot the confirmation. (you will use this in the following steps)


Step 4 (on Skillsfuture Website): Submit your SkillsFuture claim.

Go back to the SkillsFuture Portal to submit a claim under 'E-Services'.

Please submit your SkillsFuture credit claim 60 days BEFORE the course commencement, for it to be valid. Deadline to submit SFC Claim is one week prior to course commencement.


Step 5 (on Skillsfuture Website):

If your SFC submission was completed successfully, the status of your submission would reflect as "PENDING".

Your registration is confirmed after your SkillsFuture claim status reflect as "APPROVED".

*Should you choose to cancel your SFC claim before the start date, Brahm Centre reserves the right to impose a penalty fee for course withdrawal.
