You are invited to “Deva Devi” a thematic auspicious dance drama filled with bhakti rasa in various classical dance styles by Shruthi and Jayasri.
Deva and Devī are the Sanskrit words for god and goddess. Devi and deva mean 'heavenly, divine, anything of excellence', and are also gender-specific terms for a deity in Hinduism. The concept and reverence for goddesses appears in the Vedas, which were composed around the 3rd millennium. Goddesses such as Lakshmi, Parvati, Durga, Saraswati, Sita, Radha and Kali have continued to be revered in the modern era. In Hinduism, Devas are celestial beings associated with various aspects of the cosmos. Devas such as Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, form the Hindu trinity known as the Trimurthi and preside over the functioning of the cosmos and the evolution of creation.
Mystical stories of Devas and Devis will be depicted with ancient compositions written in Tamil, Telugu and Sanskrit languages set to Classical India Carnatic music, a real treat to the rasikas! Come with your family and friends and enjoy.
Free and open to public.
This event will follow all Covid protocols.
