About this Event
The Detroit chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (Detroit NABJ) sponsors, in partnership with the Detroit chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ Detroit) and the Asian American Journalists Association of Michigan (AAJA Michigan), our 17th annual Show the Love fundraiser at Lager House, 1254 Michigan in Corktown. All proceeds go toward providing grants to metro Detroit journalists and media professionals who experience financial hardships.
Even more special, we'll pay tribute to the late Luther "Badman" Keith, a trailblazing journalist, chapter member and community leader, who for 16 years performed during the event with his blues band. This year, his band will perform and be led by Keith Owens, a 2025 Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame inductee, long-time friend of Luther's and a musician.
The evening of fellowship includes free food, cash bar and a raffle. Tickets are $25 in advance through Eventbrite and $30 at the door the evening of the fundraiser. Anyone who wants to support the cause are invited to join us.
