"Detroit: Home for the Holidays" is a curated, festive bus tour that captures the spirit of the city's winter wonderland. From shopping at Hudson's to meeting under the Kern's clock, walking "The Boulevard" shops to the Thanksgiving Day Parade, from the official city Christmas tree to our beautiful, artist made, Detroit Menorah, and Kinara (the Swahili word for candle holder used in the Kwanzaa celebration), experience the magic of Detroit during the holiday season.Your adventure begins at the Detroit History Club (arrive up to a 1/2 hour early and shop our boutique) where you’ll check in and load onto our luxury motorcoach. Our first stop is the spectacular Detroit Yacht Club, an exclusive private club on Belle Isle, dressed in its holiday finest. As you savor an included lunch buffet and your choice of non-alcoholic beverages (though boozy options are available, at guests expense, if you're feeling extra festive), you’ll soak in the captivating atmosphere, and history of the century old clubhouse.
Following your late lunch, we'll whisk you away on an exterior tour of some of Detroit's most beautifully decorated homes, set against the backdrop of the historic Indian Village neighborhood before arriving at the Downtown Winter Market, a seasonal, temporary, hub of holiday cheer where you can shop the 24+ pop up shops, explore the Winter Midway games and attractions, and snap photos alongside the city's official decorations.
Upon reboarding the bus, we'll delve into the rich history of Detroit's iconic stores, from the iconic Kern's clock to the legendary Hudson's restaurant. Discover treasures from bygone eras, such as Meijer's jewelry and Dittrich furs, as we piece together the most popular gifts from decades past.
Your journey culminates at the historic Fisher Building, where you'll enjoy a small tour and have the chance to meet the proprietors and artisans behind some of Detroit's finest shops. Whether you're shopping for yourself or a special someone, ample time is provided to select the perfect gift.
From our family to yours, we extend our warmest wishes for a season filled with peace, joy, and a deep appreciation for history.
