About this Event

Come join us for a fantastic social evening at The Brakeman () on Friday, December 6th from 8 PM to 2 AM for Detroit Deaf Night Out—a chance to connect, make new friends, and enjoy a fun, inclusive atmosphere! This social event is all about bringing people together, regardless of hearing ability, for an unforgettable night of laughter, music, and good vibes.


Whether you're here to relax, meet new people, or simply enjoy the company of others, there’s something for everyone. Detroit Deaf Night Out is a great opportunity to connect with the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, CODA, and ASL signers community, as well as allies, in a welcoming and inclusive environment.


What to Expect:

- Socializing & Connections: Expect a welcoming space designed for relaxed and engaging conversations. Whether you're catching up with old friends or making new connections, this is a night for meaningful socializing in an inclusive environment. Wristbands provided at entry will help everyone identify and communicate comfortably throughout the evening.

- Food & Refreshments: Along with The Brakeman’s own Penny Red food service, we’re adding extra options! Outside the venue, enjoy three additional food trucks and an ice cream parlor next door, giving you plenty of delicious choices to fuel up and keep the fun going all night long.

- Music & Entertainment: Get ready for a lively evening filled with upbeat tunes and a warm, inclusive social atmosphere. The night is perfect for meeting new friends, reconnecting with familiar faces, sharing laughter, and enjoying meaningful conversations that bring our community closer together.

- VIP Experience: Elevate your night with VIP admission for just $15, which includes a complimentary drink or food item of your choice. Plus, VIPs receive an additional raffle ticket, boosting your chances of winning exclusive prizes throughout the night. Treat yourself to the full experience with perks that make your evening even more memorable!

- Raffles: Join in on the excitement with multiple raffle opportunities to win unique prizes that celebrate both Detroit and the Deaf community. From local merchandise to custom items that honor our shared culture, these prizes are a special way to take a piece of the night home with you. Remember, your VIP ticket comes with an extra entry!


Ticket Information:

- General Admission: Free - Enjoy all the fun, meet new friends, and celebrate diversity!

- VIP Admission: $15 - Includes a free drink or food and 1 extra raffle ticket for a chance to win exclusive prizes!


RSVP Required: To enter the event, please RSVP and you will receive a unique QR code. Upon arrival, your QR code will be scanned, and you will receive your wristband. Wristbands will indicate VIP access, age, and any special accessibility needs. Please note: Attendees under 21 will receive age-appropriate wristbands to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.


IMPORTANT: Please make sure to bring a minimum $75 in cash to enjoy the rest of the night! The minimum $75 will be used for food and drink tokens, tips, and parking fees.


Accessible amenities: Restrooms and additional support for those with low vision, Usher syndrome, and people using wheelchairs at our secondary venue, Queens Bar, 35 E Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48226.
