Discovering the Natural Palette
Detroit Color invites participants to explore the vibrant world of native Detroit plants and uncover the fascinating chemical properties that create natural dyes and pigments. This immersive experience aims to spark creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking about Detroit's natural environment, while promoting sustainable art practices and a deeper connection to local flora.
Workshop Focus: Creating Natural Paint Pigments
In this hands-on workshop, participants will be guided through each step of creating natural paint pigments. Demonstrations will be provided, allowing everyone to learn how to extract color from natural materials and mix their own unique pigments. Participants will also gain the knowledge and skills to replicate this paint-making process at home.
Each participant will receive painting materials to use during the workshop and will be able to take home a selection of the paint pigments they create.
