Detroit Book City is hosting its 5th Annual Holiday Book Festival 2024 on Sat. Dec. 7th from 12:00pm - 5pm at the Ernest T. Ford Field House, 10 Pitkin St. Highland Park, MI 48203. We Unapologetically Bring Books to the Neighborhood
This Holiday Season, we're highly encouraging book lovers & the community at-large to "shop local" and buy “The Gift Of Books” for their love ones! You'll meet over 40 local, Black Indie Authors and buy their autographed books for your family, friends & colleagues!
We're excited to CONNECT with the City of Highland Park, it residents and Metro Detroit at large. Our event is scheduled in the early afternoon on the day of Highland Park's Christmas Lights Celebration event. Bring the kids to get a FREE Holiday selfie with "Santa" between 2:00-4:00! Wear your 'Ugly Sweater' to enter contest for great prizes! Buy Kwanzaa candles, books and cards! Enjoy HOT cocoa and goodies from the Snack shop! And finally, get mesmerized with 'Soulful Holiday Sounds' by DJ Holly.

Detroit Book City hosts the largest Black author book fairs in Michigan. We have been featured in the Oakland Press and Telegram Newspapers, Channel 7 - Detroit WXYZ, WDIV – Live in the D with Michelle Oliver, American Black Journal/PBS with Stephen Henderson , Fox 2 News with Kelly Rowe, CW-50 Community Connect with Logan R. Tesmer, and we're honorably listed on The OPRAH List ~125 Black-Owned Bookstores in America along with Travel Noire's 50 in 50: Black-owned Bookstores Across America.
On June 2, 2023, Detroit Book City was honored in a special ceremony along with a self-portrait on the 'wall of fame' at the Detroit Historical Museum by The Soul Of Philanthropy (TSOP). Over 90 Black leaders in Metro Detroit were highlighted for Black giving in the city. The philanthropy exhibit is open to the public for viewing at the Detroit Historical Museum from June 3 - August 27, 2023. Be sure to stop by to support and visit https://www.tsopmichigan.org.
