Detention & deportation: Curtin refugee forum

The Australian government oversees a regime of torture. The boats of refugees fleeing persecution are turned back at sea. Many refugees who fled as teenagers have spent a third of their life locked up by the Australian government for no crime, with no end in sight. Refugees who manage to get a temporary visa live in a state of limbo with the threat of deportation hanging over their lives.
For Tamils like Priya and Nades who fled Sri Lanka after the genocide of 100,000 Tamils in 2009, refugee status is out of reach as the Australian government refuses to recognise the atrocities carried out by their partner in crime, the Sri Lankan government.
Join this meeting to hear the reality of life trapped in Australia’s immigration detention regime and how we can organise to free the refugees (speakers tbc).
