About this Event
Detection Protection – How to spot school shooters before they erupt in violence using mental health
Come join us for an eye-opening event where we'll discuss the importance of mental health in detecting and preventing potential school shooters. Learn effective strategies to identify warning signs and protect our schools. This in-person event will be held at 6601 Central Florida Pkwy. Don't miss out on this critical discussion!
Every week it seems there is another school shooting where everyone is shocked at the violence, but not surprised at who unleashed hate by killing classmates and faculty. Some shooter databases show clear indications of who will commit the violence months to years in advance of the shooting. There are dozens of red flags to show the high risk of a mass shooting – so why does it keep happening?
· Why don’t school officials or mental health leaders intervene before more students die?
· What do researchers see that counselors, parents and even law enforcement miss?
· How many more kids will be killed before we train those around future shooters of what to look for and create realistic interventions that save lives?
" Killers do not 'snap'. They plan. They acquire weapons. These children take a long, considered, public path toward violence." - USA Today
This intensive workshop will equip you with new skills to both spot and intervene with potential shooters, so the violence stops. There never needs to be another school shooting – but when red flags are missed it will happen again and again. There may be a future shooter in your community right now, but with awareness to spot red flags you can do something about it.
Detection with the mental health interventions given are more effective than metal detectors, because bulletproof glass won’t stop school shooters – but learning behavioral indicators will. Preventing mass shootings could be the most important skill you gain, both for the clients you serve and your own school age children. This live event is sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Hospital and will reach capacity very quickly. Register now and share the details with counselors, teachers or law enforcement who want to be part of the solution to stop school shooting using mental awareness and detection protection.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
1. Detect underlying behavioral patterns of school shooters drawn from a comprehensive analysis of every school mass shooting since Columbine, April 20, 1999.
2. Intervene with struggling students through the high-trust model, with access to compassionate care for those identified as high-risk by shifting mindset away from bombproof doors to behavioral awareness
3. Implement skills for students and counselors to shatter the stigma of talking about high-risk indicators. Moving toward prevention as the greatest intervention.
