Two worlds meet at the piano. VCUarts Jazz faculty member Dimitrije Vasiljević and classical pianist Aleksandar Hadžievski come together for a unique evening of music that crosses the boundaries of genre and tradition. The concert, titled "Destinations", symbolizes the many paths we encounter in life - both through the choices we make and through the musical journeys we explore. Each pianist will perform solo selections, highlighting their own artistic voice: Vasiljević through the vibrant language of jazz and improvisation, Hadžievski through the timeless beauty of classical repertoire.
The two will then unite on stage for a series of duets, blending jazz, classical, and crossover works - from celebrated composers to their own original creations. The result is a dialogue of styles, a meeting point of tradition and innovation, and a musical voyage that reflects the spirit of discovery.
Hadžievski, a rising Serbian pianist based in New York City, and Vasiljević, a Serbian-born jazz pianist and composer, are longtime friends and collaborators. Their shared roots and diverse experiences converge in "Destinations" - a concert that invites the audience to travel with them across genres, ideas, and emotions.
