About this Event
Join us Wednesday, February 25 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the MISD Center for the Performing Arts for an evening of FREE college and career readiness events, activities and presentations! The event is open to all MISD students grades 8-12 and their parents and will include presentations on topics such as College Prep, Paying for College, and Preparing for the Workforce with Career and Technical Education. A reality fair and help with college financial aid applications will also be included during the event. You'll be able to visit with college and industry partners as well .
The reality fair is an engaging, hands-on event designed for students to explore career choices. During the fair, students are given a career/life scenario and receive a starting salary. They establish a budget to manage basic monthly expenses and personal wants, simulating the financial responsibilities of adulthood. As they navigate through various centers, students make critical decisions regarding housing, transportation, insurance and other essential needs, all while managing their finances. The primary goal of the reality fair is to encourage students to reflect on their future. It highlights how their current choices can directly impact their financial and academic decisions as adults. Spaces are limited. If you'd like to participate, check out the fair on the second floor.
The College Fair, Career Fair and Life Ready Fair will begin at 5:30 p.m.
There will be two rotations for presentations:
Session 1 6-6:40 p.m.
Session 2 6:45-7:25 p.m.
All attendees will need a ticket. Tickets can be printed and brought to the event, or we can scan from your electronic device.
