In honor of Black History Month, Colorado TINTS and Khen 106.9 present "Destination of my Own, the Story of Richard Durham" on Sunday Feb 23 at A Church, 419 D St Salida. 4-6pm
Part radio show, part live performance, "Destination of My Own" follows the story of Richard Durham, the first African American radio journalist to break through the lily white industry of American radio in the 1940s.
The event will include a 15 min segment of the radio play, a 15 min live reading by Buena Vista actor Eric Lee and an airing of "Shakespeare of Harlem," one of Durham's 1940 original radio shows.
The event will include a cash bar, snacks and 1940s dance music. Suggested donation $15.
