Description: This presentation explores the role of perversion and disavowal in relation to contemporary culture along with the voice as a privileged objet a and the role of technology. Taking the film Her (2013) as a case study for contemporary discontent, the seminar Margeurite considers how this is showing up in clinical work and draws on her current research on how AI-chatbots may reshape and challenge human subjectivity and desire. Speaker Bio: Marguerite Gleeson is a Lacanian psychoanalyst and researcher exploring how Lacanian theory can help us interpret contemporary cultural phenomena, particularly regarding the themes of lack, desire, discontent, sexuality, and love. Marguerite, Irish-Mexican, is pursuing her PhD at Ghent University, Belgium. She keeps a clinical practice in Madrid, Spain where she lives and works in practice.
