A peek into Singapore’s history, the 2-day Holiday Workshop aims to introduce 7-14 year olds to the history, traditions and lifestyles of Singapore’s Peranakan culture, explored through hands-on activities with focus on art, design and architecture.
Children will learn all things Peranakan through a highly interactive sharing by award-winning Peranakan museum owner and collector, Alvin Yapp from The Intan followed by introduction to the architectural Shophouse typology by DesignTinkers.
Viewing through the lens of Peranakan art, culture and design, children will translate their artistic inspirations onto ceramic tile painting and hands-on model-making of a shophouse building.
Time: 9:30am - 3:00pm, Thursday, Friday
Age: 7 - 14 years old (Participants will be grouped by age on the day of the event)

We strive to keep a low facilitator-to-child ratio to maximise the learning experience.
Cancellation Policy:
For cancellations of camp/ workshop due to unforeseen COVID restrictions, a full refund will be issued to you.
Given the limited availability of slots due to the small size of our camp/ workshop, we do not accept cancellations once booked and full payment made, if there is a change of mind.
Camp/ workshop bookings are however transferable to another child of the same age group if your child is unable to attend, if a written request is made 7 days prior to camp/ workshop.
DesignTinkers reserves the right to cancel a camp/ workshop if minimum group size sign-ups requirement is not obtained, or when Covid-19 safe management measures cannot be met, you will be notified 5 days before camp start date and a full refund will be issued to you.
Given the nature of a camp format, we are unable to offer make-up camps in the event of a no-show or cancellation. Any alternative arrangements that may be offered out of goodwill (e.g. joining a similar camp at a different location/date/time) are strictly subject to availability. No refunds will be given if an alternative arrangement cannot be arranged.
In the event that your child presents any Covid-19 symptoms on any given day of the camp/ workshop, we seek your cooperation to see a doctor, keep them home and not attend the camp/ workshop. Children who appear to our facilitators to be symptomatic on the day of camp/ workshop will not be allowed to join and they will be required to be picked up promptly. We will issue a credit note upon the receipt of a medical certificate, and an alternative arrangement will be made for your child to attend another session suitable for his age and interest if available, otherwise, a full refund will be issued to you.
