DesignTinkers 5-day Camp 3 (Dec)

Join us for an exciting 5-day Holiday Camp where children dive into a world of creativity and innovation! Designed to spark curiosity, this hands-on camp invites kids to explore a variety of make-and-build projects; encouraging experimentation, enhancing dexterity, and strengthening both creative and critical thinking skills. Each day brings a new opportunity to learn, create, and have fun through purposeful play and exploration.

On Day 1 and 2, students will take on the challenge of designing the ultimate playground. Working in small groups, they'll learn how to apply Design Thinking principles to understand what makes a playground fun, safe, and memorable for different users. Students will move beyond traditional ideas, brainstorming innovative concepts and collaborating to build a prototype of their ideal playground. This hands-on project emphasizes teamwork, creative problem-solving, and the importance of designing with empathy.

Students are also encouraged to explore ways to keep their playground accessible to children (and adults) of all abilities, promoting inclusive play for all.

On Day 3, students will explore the art and science of ergonomic design through the lens of chairs. The day begins by tracing the history of chairs and introducing the core principles of ergonomics, teaching students how design can impact comfort, posture, and well-being. Following this, the real creativity begins as students apply their new knowledge by sketching and prototyping a series of custom mini-chair designs, each serving a specific function like relaxing, studying, or playing. The workshop culminates in a showcase where students can present their unique creations to their peers and observe the diverse range of solutions they've developed.

Ideas for Chair Designs

On Day 4 and 5, students will dive into the exciting world of Café designs as they explore what it takes to create a one-of-a-kind space. From cozy corners to trendy themes, they’ll unleash their creativity by brainstorming unique concepts for their dream café. Each student will develop personalized floor plans, pick out furniture, colors, and décor, and bring their café vision to life—one detail at a time. It’s the perfect blend of imagination, design, and fun!

With extensive experience working with children and teens, our instructors are dedicated to nurturing each student’s creative interests in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment.
Our camps are held in our spacious and conducive classrooms where students can create and explore freely under guidance.
