About this Event
In this hands-on workshop, we will explore how to create dynamic and inviting environments that act as the "third teacher," guiding children’s learning through thoughtful design and material selection. We will focus on how to design spaces that promote a free flow of ideas, play, and exploration rather than compartmentalizing learning areas.
Participants will engage in an in-depth look at how the environment can encourage curiosity, imagination, and investigations. Using the concept of building structures as an example, we will examine how to choose and implement tools and materials that provoke inquiry, problem-solving, and collaboration.
Educators will have the opportunity to work with a variety of materials during the workshop, reflecting on how they might use them to inspire and support children's natural interests and investigations in their own settings. By thinking critically about space design and materials, educators will leave with practical strategies for fostering meaningful, child-led learning environments.
Participants will also receive a sample package of building pieces to add to their classrooms.
