About this Event
For many years, Edge Innovation has been dedicated to supporting small businesses and social enterprises in Tees Valley. Throughout this period, one recurring question has been how to better connect these organisations with sources of finance. This challenge is especially pronounced for voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations, which often struggle to secure the funding they need.
At the same time, we frequently engage with funders who are eager to invest in these organisations but find it challenging to allocate their resources effectively. There exists a clear disconnect between the funding needs of VCSE organisations and the available investment. Factors such as governance, structure, financial approach and management impact the ability of VCSE organisations to access finance. Equally important are the cultural and communication barriers that hinder effective collaboration between VCSE organisations and investors.
To address this, we plan to use our expertise in design thinking by hosting a series of sessions with Tees Valley VCSE organisations and funders. These sessions aim to explore the issue and develop new approaches. The anticipated outcomes include:
- VCSE organisations gain a deeper understanding of funders' expectations and learn how to successfully attract funding.
- Funders acquire a clearer insight into the real needs of VCSE organisations, potentially leading to new or repurposed funding offers tailored to this market.
- Facilitation of discussions between VCSE organisations and funders that could result in direct investments.
The first session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2nd, from 10:00 to 12:00 in Stockton.
