About this Event
Clients can spend a large percentage of their day in a lying position and the prevention of pressure injuries often guides our decision-making around support surface prescription. However, the decision on what support surface to prescribe based on your client’s pressure and posture management plan can be complicated. Static foam, gel, hybrid, alternating air, static air, and the list goes on. This session will look at the design of support surfaces, the materials used, and the pressure care benefits of differing surfaces to help guide you in making best practice recommendations for your clients. We will also discuss pressure care principles like repositioning, skin checks and posture management along with considerations for alternative seat surfaces.
