Centre for Pastoralism and the Desi Oon Hub extend a warm welcome to the 5th edition of the Desi Oon Festival - at Triveni Kala Sangam, Mandi House, New Delhi, from 11th-15th December 2025.
Come be a part of the traditional felting workshops, from 12th-14th December, conducted by artisans from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kashmir and Sikkim.
All our workshops are beginner-friendly. No prior experience is required.
With each workshop, you get a kit bag with all the material you need, and more, so that you can go home and practice further. Entry to the event is free of cost, only the workshops are chargeable.

About the workshops:
Needle Felting Workshop: Make your own felt Christmas decor
Learn the sculpting felt technique, needle felting, with expert crafts person Heera Didi. You get to go home with handcrafted Christmas tree ornaments. Heera Didi has a rich experience in various craft techniques native to Rajasthan. She is a self-taught needle felting artisan. She knows 15 different craft techniques from felting to dyeing to embroidery. She is also a social worker, who has been working with URMUL Setu for the past 15 years.

Learn needle felting with expert crafts person Rinshila K K who is an experienced textile designer currently working in Gangtok, Sikkim with LA. You get to go home with handcrafted toy animals.

Learn the ancient craft of Kutchi Namda making from master artisan- Latifbhai from Kutch. You get to go home with handcrafted namda. Latifbhai has over 30 years experience.

Advanced Wet Felting Workshop (Time duration: 4hrs)
Learn the beautiful craft of wet felting from Sanskruti Shukla, an artist and designer known for her work with wool and community-led projects such as Khullu Project and Chejelo. In this hands-on workshop, youâll explore the process of transforming raw wool into fabric using the Gaddi (Himalayan) wool. At the end of the session, youâll take home your own wet-felted scarf or mobile cover, made entirely by you!

Advanced Needle Felting Workshop (Time duration: 4hrs)
Learn the craft of needle felting with Shivaranjan V, an artist who brings wool to life through playful forms and vibrant imagination. In this workshop, youâll discover how to sculpt wool into needlefelted toys, using the chokla (Rajasthani) wool.
